The rhythm track for 'He Is My Everything', tried out at the start of the session, was not used, and Elvis contunued to record the song live in the studio with the other musicians and backing vocalsts present.
Both takes 3 and 5 of 'He Is My Everything'
have been cut from the session reel so the master
is unknown. It could be either complete Take 3
or 5 or a splice of the two takes.
The rehearsal before Take 1 of 'He Is My Everything'
on FTD's Easter Special also contains one-liners edited
in from the 'Until It's Time For You To Go (remake)'
session on June 8.
Take 3 of 'Bosom Of Abraham' released on
the bootleg Let It Roll is far superior in sound quality to
the same take as released on the Platinum - A Life In Music box-set.
'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' was
originally recorded as a duet with Ginger Holladay
on March 15 and additional backup vocals were
then overdubbed on March 18.
With Elvis and Ginger's original vocals then being removed from the multi-track
tape, leaving only the original Take 12 rhythm
track with backing vocals, on May 21 Elvis tried 'The First Time
Ever I Saw Your Face' again as a duet, this
time with Temple Riser, but this was also not
used. Elvis re-recorded his vocals again on June 9 to the original Take 12 rhythm track.
As tape reel #1 from March 15 is missing, all that exists for 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' are Takes 11 and 12, although Take 12 now only contains Elvis' June 9 replaced vocals. All that remains of the two duets are acetates.
A remixed version of 'The First Time Ever I
Saw Your Face' was featured on the 70s Box.
An extended version of 'The First Time Ever
I Saw Your Face' was featured on the cassette
only release of the Elvis Aron Presley box-set.
The undubbed masters of 'He Is My Everything', 'There Is No God But God' and 'The First Time Ever
I Saw Your Face' on the 4xCD box-set Elvis Back In Nashville is presented without backing vocals, although they can be heard faintly, bleeding through Elvis' microphone.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
All outtakes and undubbed masters used on the Sony 4xCD set Elvis Back In Nashville have been completely remixed and remastered from scratch.
Thanks to Luuk Bonthond regarding extended versions
of songs on the cassette version of Elvis Aron
Presley.
